Barksdale AFB Famcamp
My wife and I spent the night at Barksdale AFB Famcamp on 4 May 2007. It is still under construction and and was pretty muddy that day.
The new bath/laundry/meeting room is very nice. The meeting room appears to be a little on the small size.
I would say by the end of May 2007 they should have the grounds cleaned up.
They have completely redone the electrical, water, and sewage with 30/50 AMPS at each site.
They have 52 sites total of which 4 are pull through.
By the end of May 07 they should have wireless (WiFi) that can handle 28 connections at a time.
The sites are rather small, capable of handling
big rigs, but they were conservative on the concrete.
For most part you will have to walk on the grass (mud at present) to hook
up your rig.
Outside the 4 pull thru's, big rigs will not have much room.
There is no cable and I was told that cable is not currently in the planning.
The price is right. Still $14 a night.
We suggest when going to Barksdale you use the
East Gate. It is the gate designed
for commercial traffic (big trucks.) Take exit 23 off Interstate 20. As soon as
you enter
the gate, swing wide right then make an immediate left turn onto Lindeberg Road,
then
left on Perimeter Road which will lead you to the park on the right.
We are pretty familiar with Barksdale, so if
you need more information you can either
Email me or call my cell at 318
664-9009.
